Let me get this straight: 4 goals gets you a free frosty? That's setting the bar pretty low isn't it? (but good for the fans). It's also an indictment of how low scoring has fallen in the NHL. Back in the Mario era 90's, the Pens were scoring so many goals that the 7th goal was the "chili" goal...(you got a free cup of chili from Wendys)...and whole arena would be chanting "CHILI-CHILI-CHILI" once they got to 6.

You should have been there when we were shouting for tacos!!
Scoring seems to be creeping back up. The crackdown by the refs on slashing, holding and interference has seemed to help quite a bit. The one thing I still can't understand is how a guy will get a 2 min minor for slashing just for touching someone's hands with his stick. But in front of the goal, guys can get cross checked and beat down, with no call.
That said, it seems there are a lot more 5-3, 6-2 games than there were just a couple years ago. I don't want to get back to the days of needing 7-8 goals to win. But a 5-3 game has plenty of offense to keep the fans engaged and the flow of the game fast.
